History:
Although lesser kudu populations are not in dire danger, they are classified as near threatened by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature. Their population in the wild is estimated at about 120,000 individuals, although this number is believed to be decreasing at a rate of 10% every decade. Thankfully, about a third of their population resides in protected areas throughout east Africa.
